What Is SureSmile?

SureSmile is a clear aligner system that corrects orthodontic problems with a removable clear Essix plastic aligner that is worn over the teeth. The treatment plan is digitally planned using the very easy-to-use and accessible online software.

The trim of the aligners can be customized for patient preference, available in a straight line or scalloped trim. SureSmile can treat a variety of problems, including overcrowding, gaps, bite problems, and crooked teeth without the uncomfortable metal brackets and wires of braces.

We can also use Suresmile attachments and elastics when your teeth need additional help to achieve teeth movements or to shift the jaw. If you have any missing teeth or large gaps, SureSmile software enables us to fill in these gaps with color-matching technology that fills in spaces larger than 3 mm.

Our SureSmile Process in Sarasota

First, you’ll come in for a consultation with one of our Sarasota dentists so we can assess your orthodontic issues and determine if SureSmile is right for you. Then, we’ll take digital impressions of your teeth so we can digitally plan your orthodontic treatment with our software and send your impressions to the dental lab that will fabricate your aligners.

Once we’ve uploaded your impressions to the online software, we will plan your entire treatment, including your tooth movements from start to fo finish, and be able to give you a precise timeline of how long your treatment will take and how many aligners you will need.

Once your aligners are ready, you’ll come back to the office to pick them up and can begin your orthodontic journey. You’ll receive enough aligners to change them every two weeks and have routine checkups throughout your treatment.

At the end of your treatment, you will need to wear a retainer to maintain your new alignment and prevent your teeth from reverting to their crooked alignment.

Benefits Of Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are more comfortable because they are made of thermoplastic rather than metal brackets and wires that place a lot of force on your teeth. Clear aligners are more gentle for a gradual shifting of the teeth.

They’re also much more aesthetic and discreet because they’re transparent. Everyday tasks like eating and cleaning your teeth become so much easier. Lots of foods get stuck in braces which means a lot of diet restrictions.

Since clear aligners are removable, you can take them out and eat or drink whatever you want. Since you don’t have fixed brackets and wires covering your teeth, you can easily brush and floss, making the treatment more hygienic.

How Long Does SureSmile Take?

This answer depends on the complexity of their case and how well they comply with wearing their aligners. Treatment generally ranges from 6 months for minor cases and up to 18 months for severely crooked teeth or those with bite problems.

For treatment to be effective, you must wear your aligners for at least 22 hours daily. Severe bite problems can take longer than 18 months to treat. We can give you a more specific estimate at your consultation after an oral exam.

Am I A Good Candidate For SureSmile?

Anyone with orthodontic issues that interfere with their confidence but are otherwise in good oral health is a great candidate for SureSmile. If you want to correct your alignment but hate the idea of wearing braces, clear aligners are a more comfortable and aesthetic alternative.
